When I talk to other business owners and they tell me they want to grow their business the first question I ask is what is the vision for their future? Growing your business takes time, money, patience and often times a shift in mentality and lifestyle. What lifestyle are they wanting to create? Some know their vision but most can’t answer that question and have never really thought about it. Being self employed is one of the best ways to create your own lifestyle and be able to live life on your terms.
We live in a society today where many people play the victim card. It’s not their fault they aren’t successful. It’s their boss’s fault. Their parents fault. Their school’s fault. They don’t have any money. People have limiting beliefs that hinder them from being successful. Everybody has some sort of limiting factors they must overcome in life but in the end its up to you to become successful and drive your life. Being self employed allows you the flexibility and freedom to take your life and live it on your terms.
The key to having vision is to ask yourself where you want to be in 5 years, 10 years, 15 years, etc. Do you see yourself working an 8 to 5 job, coming home to a wife and kids and a white picket fence? Or do you see yourself running your own business, traveling when you want to travel and taking full opportunity of life! There’s really no right answer except for the answer that you pick. It’s your life. Go live it!
The truth is without vision or knowing where you want to go in life you are merely a sail boat in the ocean without sails drifting aimlessly wherever the current and winds take you. You can’t get upset when you never really get any traction in life because you never set your sails! Once you have the vision you can then take daily action to get you to your end goal.
You must have a vision and then set goals to get where you want to be. If your vision is to be financially free in 10 years then every decision you make going forward is driven towards your goal of being financially free. If you want to be self employed in 5 years then you have to start taking the steps today to set yourself up to get their in 5 years. Without vision you merely wake up everyday and go to a job without purpose. Without purpose to drive your goals it’s nearly impossible to achieve greatness.
Overnight success doesn’t just happen. The majority of time people struggle for years to put themselves in a position to be an overnight success story. They worked hard to get themselves to a point in their lives where they can take advantage of a lucky situation.
